WARRIOR BASEBALL & SOFTBALL NEWSLETTERS

September 2019

September 2019

Friends,

As of Tuesday, September 4th, Warrior Baseball Academy is OFFICIALLY reopened!  As you will see, the facility has undergone a major renovation/upgrade this summer.  We believe you will find the space significantly more usable, and it will help enhance everyone’s ability to train.  Over the next few weeks we will continue to finish our modifications, and we ask that you please bear with us. We believe that, when this is completed, it will truly enhance your child’s experiences at Warrior.

We will be running our full schedule of After School Programs (ages 3-12) starting on Tuesday.  Some space is still available, so please call or email Tara (914-937-6700 or tara@warriorny.com) to register.

An all new program that we are excited to be offering this fall is our Junior Warrior House League.  This will give our youngest Warriors (ages 4-7) the opportunity to don Warrior gear and learn the fundamentals of team play in a fun house league environment!!  They will have one indoor practice on Wednesdays and one outdoor game on Fridays per week.  A few spots still remain, so call Tara about getting your son or daughter registered.

Our Warrior teams will be back in action with practices starting this week and games starting this upcoming weekend.  Teams, please be on the lookout for a separate communication about Teamsnap and schedules.

Finally, we are working hard on getting our new website (warriorny.com) up and running.  We are adding training videos (Warrior Wednesdays), links to our social media content, details about all of our programs, vacation clinics and camps, teams and much more!  Please check back regularly to see our changes.

There are a lot of exciting things ahead here at Warrior and we can’t wait to share them with all of you!

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to us directly.

Joe and Mike

PS: Keep an eye out on email and social media (warriorbaseballny on Instagram and Warrior Baseball NY on Facebook) for details about the Grand Re-Opening party that is in the works!

2. Facility Renovation
We are very excited to announce that, in just a few weeks, we are making major changes to the facility. Our goal is to create a more open and functional space where our training can be much more effective. We believe that all of our players, families, and friends will be thrilled with the change. As a result, the facility will be CLOSED from July 30 through August 11. We will reopen on August 12; during that time frame, we will still be available to book future lessons, birthday parties, clinics, etc. via phone and email.

3. Summer Camp – added week!

Please email Tara at tara@warriorny.com to register or for more information.

May 2019

WARRIOR Families,

Slightly longer newsletter this month, because there’s a lot of exciting things going on! Grab a pen and paper to take some notes — let’s get right into it.

Biomechanics Seminar – Monday, May 20th, 7:30pm:

We are excited to invite you all to a special free seminar we are presenting in partnership with Greenwich Sports Medicine. Led by Dr. Gil Chimes of the New York Yankees, Dr. Alex Svac, GSM’s Director of Therapy, and Dave Fisher, our Director of Performance, this seminar will allow you all to get a hands-on understanding of the program and what we are planning to offer in the near future to teams and individuals.

We will be utilizing cutting edge technology – a portable biomechanics lab – that will highlight hitting and throwing sequencing. The comprehensive program we will be offering is designed to prevent injuries, enhance performance, and enable our coaches to work more efficiently with your son or daughter.

ALL are welcome to attend this free seminar on Monday, May 20th, at 7:30pm here at Warrior.
The only thing you need to do is RSVP using the following linkhttps://forms.gle/WA9UyeQo9BqaGiYP6

Facility Upgrades:

We are in the process of finalizing some exciting renovation plans that will make our great indoor space more flexible and efficient. The project is slated to be completed by the start of the new school year! Stay tuned for more details.

Team Updates & Summer Tryouts:

Warrior baseball, Aces baseball, Elite Squad baseball, and Lady Pride softball spring seasons are underway. The teams are off to a great start with good showings in Perfect Game, Diamond Nation, Baseball Heaven, and The Rock tournaments, and GHVBL league play.

While there’s still plenty of spring ball to be played, we are in the process of holding summer baseball and softball tryouts. Summer baseball tryouts are tonight @ Warrior 6-730pm, and Friday @ Warrior 6-730pm. Please register here for baseball tryouts (https://forms.gle/aqoch6B33nQxVbrYA) or reply to this email!

We also have an open roster spot for our 14u fastpitch softball tournament team! If your daughter or someone you know might be interested in playing, please let us know.

BEAST Summer Strength & Conditioning:

We are now taking registrations for the extremely popular and comprehensive BEAST summer strength & conditioning program. The BEAST summer program runs 11am-1pm Monday through Thursday beginning June 3 and ending August 8. Players can sign up weekly or walk-in daily, but we recommend 8-week or 10-week discounted packages to save some money and get the most out of the summer. Please call 914-937-6700 or email tara@warriorny.com to register. Program description as follows:

Each player will receive a full functional movement screen as well as an individualized corrective exercise program based on their screening. This will provide each player with the necessary workouts to minimize injury over the summer season. Each player will also receive a movement screen specifically for hitting and pitching. Based on the screen we will be able to identify the physical limitations that lead to mechanical flaws and arm issues for pitchers. Skill work will be broken down into hitting, fielding, and throwing days.
– Hitting days will focus primarily on mechanics, sequencing, barrel accuracy and in game hitting approach. All data and progress will be tracked through HitTrax. Exit velocities will be monitored and tracked but will not be a point of emphasis.
– Each week we will have a day dedicated to all defensive work outside. Infield drills will cover glovework, footwork, relays, tags, and situational defense. Outfielder drills will cover footwork, routes, reaction time, relays and situational defense.
– All players will be given a specific arm care routine based on their screening. Mobility, stability, proper sequencing, and proper arm action will be the primary points of focus. Pitchers will have one bullpen day a week built around their game schedule. All other drills will be on flat ground to avoid stress on the arm in-season.
– Workouts will be based on our in season training program and will be focused on maintaining strength, power output, mobility and stability. Players will be tested every two weeks to monitor gains in all four categories.
Warrior Social Media:
We are making a concerted effort to connect more with Warrior friends and family via social media. Please follow us on instagram @warriorbaseballny, and on Facebook at Warrior Baseball NY. Team updates and multimedia, instructional videos, upcoming events, and more will all be posted on both accounts; tell a friend to follow!
Summer Camps:
We will be offering two separate camp options this summer. The first will be a traditional outdoor baseball camp for ages 7-12 at Lyon Park in Port Chester. The second will be an indoor multi-sport camp for ages 3-5 and 5-7 at the Warrior facility. Registration is now open for both camps – please call 914-937-6700 and speak to Tara to get your son or daughter registered!

Birthday Parties:
We would love to host your next birthday party here at Warrior. Our coaches will host the party on the turf and organize any games that the birthday boy/girl want to play (wiffleball, kickball, soccer, football, capture the flag, etc.), before heading upstairs for pizza and cake. Please inquire about availability with our front desk.

Mid-season Lessons:
Does your son or daughter need fresh set of eyes to help get that extra bit of production that’s missing on the field, on the mound, or in the batters box? Our coaches are readily available for lessons! Please call Tara at 914-937-6700 to set up a session.
We look forward to seeing everyone around the facility or on the fields!

April 2019

April 2019

WARRIOR Families:

We wanted to update you on some exciting developments at Warrior this month.

Facility Upgrades:

We have purchased a Hack Attack Jr. baseball pitching machine, which is a major-league quality training tool designed to develop serious young players. The Hack Attack Jr. is used by high schools and colleges throughout the country, and has the ability to throw fastballs up to 90 mph, left-handed and right-handed curveballs and sliders. Please call the front desk to book a lesson with one of our coaches and the Hack Attack Jr!

Our HitTrax unit has been moved to the back of the facility and we have mounted the monitor overlooking cage 4. HitTrax provides real-time stats and key performance metrics, along with powerful video analysis, trend reports and more. This technology provides unique training that many Warrior players have already experienced. If your son or daughter has interest in a workout that utilizes HitTrax, please call or reply to this email.

We have made some upgrades to our strength and conditioning equipment, purchasing a safety squat bar, a hex bar, and improved plyometric boxes. Our Director of Performance, Dave Fisher, runs his BEAST strength & conditioning program year round, and is also taking registrations for spring in-season arm care and VIP hitting programs. Please call the front desk or reply to this email to inquire.

Warrior and Aces Teams:

Both our Warrior and Aces teams got their spring travel seasons underway this past weekend, where the weather allowed for baseball. Outdoor team practices began this week and we are excited for the rest of our teams to get their games underway this upcoming weekend!

Registration is now open for both camps – please call and speak to Tara to get your son or daughter registered!

Our coaches will host the party on the turf and organize any games that the birthday boy/girl want to play (wiffleball, kickball, soccer, football, capture the flag, etc.), before heading upstairs for pizza and cake. Please inquire about availability with our front desk.

New Staff:

Aldo Spano is the new head coach of our 14U Blue Warrior softball team. Aldo comes highly recommended with a wealth of coaching experience and strong local connections. Please welcome Aldo to the Warrior family!

We look forward to seeing everyone around the facility or on the fields!

March 2019

March 2019

Warrior Families:

We wanted to update you on some exciting developments at Warrior. We plan to send out a monthly newsletter detailing current happenings.

New Staff:
We have recently hired Tara Nicholson, to work the front desk and act as our office manager. Tara comes to Warrior highly recommended after many years in similar roles, and will be here Monday through Friday. Susan will now be at the front desk on Saturdays and Sundays. Please be sure to stop by and introduce yourself to both ladies.

Facility Upgrades:
Since early January, a strong focus of ours has been the cleanliness and upkeep of the facility. As such, the facility has gone through an industrial “deep-clean,” including steam-cleaning the second floor carpet and the rubber mats on the first floor. We are committed to maintaining this level of cleanliness on a daily basis. Therefore, we have hired a custodian to clean five nights a week after hours, with a focus on high-traffic areas such as bathrooms. We have also embarked on a cosmetic upgrade of the facility through extensive repairs and painting.

Warrior Website:
We are excited to announce that we are putting the finishing touches on the Warrior website (warriorny.com). We hope to be operational in the coming days.

Warrior Teams:
Our 14U Gold softball team is participating in their first tournament of 2019 at the Danbury Dome this weekend, which is a great opportunity for the girls to kick off their season. The rest of our baseball and softball teams are working hard during winter training to prepare for Opening Day and high school tryouts later this month.

Additional Training:
We are fortunate to have a significant number of college and high school coaches on our Warrior staff. These coaches are available to work with your sons or daughters. Please contact our front desk to schedule individual or group training sessions.

After School Classes:
Session 4 of our After School classes begins this week. We are making two changes that we believe you will view as positive. First, we are adding a multi-sport component to Mini Slugger; we feel this change will add some additional fun for the kids while exposing them to some different sports. Also, we are lowering the fees for our after school classes. All class fees will be $200 for 8 weeks (down from $288). This price change applies to Mini Slugger Multi Sport (ages 3-5), Rookies (formerly ‘After School’, ages 5-7), Minors (ages 8-9) and Majors (ages 10-12). Please call to register now!

Flyers with full details and registration instructions are forthcoming.

As you can see, the Warrior staff has been hard at work. However, there’s still more to do!

We are looking forward to a great season.
